Chasing The American Dream

January 25, 2005

KING OF PAIN

There’s only one other person in this world who knows the only other title I was considering for my book other than Chasing. Today, something happened to me that will make me seriously reconsider changing the title. Maybe it truly is my destiny?

There’s a little black spot on the sun today (that’s my soul up there.)
It’s the same old thing as yesterday (that’s my soul up there.)
There’s a black hat caught on a high tree top (that’s my soul up there.)
There’s a flag pole rag and the wind won’t stop (that’s my soul up there.)

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain, with the world turning circles running ‘round my brain.
I guess I’m always hoping that you’ll end this reign, but it’s my destiny to be the King of Pain.

BTW, I like the live Alanis Morissette version the best.

  • Dog! The Police cannot be topped. And certainly not by that whiny-ass Kanuck. Can you tell how much I loathe Alanis? Do I have to re-iterate my "Ironic" rant? Huh? Do I? Well?

Switching gears...send me an email when you have a chance, and tell me how the IPOD works as far as adding memory to it (memory cards, etc.).

  • Love that...King of Pain...we all claim that moniker, n' est ce pas?

and just because...it's Canuck with a "C"...my dear LX...so sorry..love to do that to you.

Take it with love as I know you will.

  • and I like "Chasing" better. King of Comedy, King of Pain...King of Queens...yadda..."Chasing" sounds epic, if you will...King of Pain sounds more like a Douglas Copeland novel...not that there's anything wrong with that...

  • Wait a minute. LX has an ipod? "Isn't it Iroic?" (a little alanis to add fuel to the fire of hatred) Didn't he "FECK" everyone that owned one to the depths of hell and back!! I LOVE IT!

I agree with the last post. I like "Chasing" much better.

    xx

  • Robyn, is it iroic or ironic? Neither. Remember my resolution? Of course, at first glance I read it: Heroic. Anyway, I don't have an IPOD; that's why I asked PT about it.

  • Sorry, the above was meant for Amanda. Robyn...Kanuck/Canuck/Can-nook/Nanook of the North...I still don't like her. PT calls it "emotion" I call it "whiny"

I'm probably in the minority. As it should be; as I like it.

  • I am a self proclaimed idiot typo-loser...no spell check here...I make more typo's than anyone I know...just having fun with Robotnik for obvious reasons...but he has been very good as of late due to his NY resolution...It's all in good fun.

  • Oops, it's all about location, I suppose. I was responding to the original post. What happened to change the title of the book?

  • new title- "what have i done to deserve this"- pet shop boys featuring dusty springfield

    By Blogger (S)wine, at 2:45 PM, January 26, 2005

  • new title- what's going on?- marvin gaye

  • Of course you can go with Robotnik's personal favorite: "Kill 'em All" (Metallica).

Never mind, don't listen to me.

  • Bravo readers! You're snapping me out of my self-pity and making me laugh. You've given me a great, albeit corny, idea (see next post).

BTW, LX, Sting is singing background vocals on Alanis' Pain.

  • The swine!

    By Blogger (S)wine, at 8:13 PM, January 26, 2005

  • It has to be a M/F thing for you; it's the only logical explanation that my mind will accept for a reason why you'd like an Alanis cover over The Police original.

Sting's voice was made for that song.

Maybe it's just sexier to see a woman in that same state of anguish? Not that pain is sexy (well, we won't get into that)...but maybe it appeals to your inner-Alpha male tendancies to take care of a woman's needs and make her happy?

I'm clearly talking out of my ass now. I just wanted to say "go Sting!". LOL

  • Hey JC, don't you have some studying to do???

Hey I like the Po-lice, too. I dig Alanis' dark, broody, moody interpretation on this song and her songs in general. Probably is M/F related as well.

Relax girl, I like Gordon Sumner's vocals.

And didn't I tell ya to lay off the 'sexy' conversation? Now that you've been retained, I don't want to get sued for sexual harrassment...

    Rock on.

  • Dork.

    :)

And I wrote that before I got the 'warning'. 'Scuse me!

(You'll soon find that I can be pretty stubborn, so.. I may need more than one warning.) ;)

And yes, I constantly make smiley winking faces with my punctuation. OLD HABITS DIE HARD.
